DRAFT

DRAFT. Short answers for running a race. The finished help text will replace this page.

How do I create a race?

Sign in and choose Create. Pick untimed, Quality Contest, or timed, name the race, and optionally add the pack or group name. That name shows on the race, not as the name of this site.

How do lanes work?

Untimed and timed races ask how many lanes the track has. Each scout gets four runs. The schedule moves that scout one lane each run and wraps after the last lane, so every lane is used once before a lane repeats.

What happens when I lock the roster?

Locking an untimed or timed race builds the heats. New cars are refused until you unlock, and unlocking erases recorded finishes. A Quality Contest lock does not build heats. Voting stays closed until that roster is locked, and unlocking clears the votes.

How does Quality Contest voting work?

Each car is in one category. Counted paper ballots use plus and minus on Votes. Remote ballots use the QR code: a person enters a name and can pick a car or leave a category blank. Closing voting refuses new ballots. Awards show the winner and runner-up.

Where are finals?

After the heats, tiebreakers settle the cars that share a place. Finals lists the top of the race. A timed race ranks by average time. An untimed race ranks by points.

How do photos work?

A car photo is optional on the roster and on the public signup page. Phones can take a picture; a computer picks a file. Finals and awards can add a photo after the race. Photos are stored with that race.
